Speed Painting and Studies

Group Info

We prepare selections of topics and make speedpaint studies from them.
The next theme will be announced on the 15th of each month.

Everyone is invited. You find a folder for each theme in our gallery.
We expect you to make speedpaint studies - that means you make the study in 2 hours and don't use tracing and the color picker. You can compare your results to the other members and hopefully you give and receive feedback.

You find the references in the Favorites of this group - i wanted to add the references in the galleries but that needs the stock provider to coorporate and some visit their stock very seldom.

As our group grows, so do the onslaught of submissions. Our group is not a portal to promote yourself, but rather a learning study group. If you do not actively participate in challenges or offer helpful feedback to others, dont expect us to accept your art in the non-challenge speed paint study folders.

Hi all!

You asked for it you got it!  You voted for water and water it is!

A big thank you goes out to all our active members who post their lovely work, vote and provide input to the reference gallery.  Know that your time and input is quite valuable and very much appreciated!  Also, a big welcome hug to all the new members that joined this month!

That being said, let's move on to this month's selections:

Long wave by loustock

Rip Curl by Della-Stock

Spanish beach by yinetyang

Water Splash 6332237 by StockProject1

Lake Louise 14 by raindroppe

Ponce Inlet Waves by Della-Stock

green wave by Gamekiller48

water-stock by AJK-Original-Stock

Quite a variety, so now to your stations and let's have some fun!

Here's Da Rules

Same rules as always. 2 hour time limit! No tracing! No color picking from the original ref! Figure out your own colors. Make sure you include credit and links where you got your stock photo in the DA description. Not only do most stock provider want to be informed if there pictures are used, but for study reasons referencing to the original source is better for getting crits.

:star: When your done submit it to this folder here:
Also say a few words on your study in the description. Helps others when commenting on your work. Its always good to take a moment and reflect on your studies so you can better tackle and improve on those areas in the next study.

Common things to answer are:
►What did you learn from doing this study?
►What did you find difficult?
►What area's do you wish to improve on?

As always, if you're participating in these studies, it's highly encouraged to comment on other peoples studies when they get submitted to the group. Sharing advice crits and tips will help each other grow!

That's it! Best of luck this month! We are looking forward to seeing each others studies!

Your group really looks interesting!

Is it acceptable for anyone to join, or does one have to be a certain "caliber" of artist? ^^;

And if we aren't able to participate a whole lot in the group, would that be a problem? ^^;

Everyone is welcome to join the goal being to help each other on our journey to improvement.

There is no minimum or maximum participation required.  We only ask that members critique and comment on each other's work.

I don't know if it's just me, but I don't see the button to add art to the Eye folder for this month. It shows on every other folder, but it's missing there.

I've given a look and it should be fixed now. Tell me if it's not and thanks for the feed back.

Can anyone help with linking to reference? Seems like it doesn't work now for some reason...
I used just to copy paste url of the reference image but now it's beeing converted to a broken link instead.

Hey Deerbard!

Here is what DA recommends:
Deviation linking

To link to images found on deviantART in your journal please visit the deviation page and in the sidebar to the right under the "share" or "details" header please copy the code that starts with ":thumb:". Once you have copied that :thumb: code you can paste it in to your journal and it will automatically generate a thumbnail image for that deviation when the journal is displayed on site.

If further problems persist, just give me a shout and we will dig further.

Yeah, it doesn't change anything, same problem. It changes for a thumbnail but after I save the picture, there's no thumbnail, just a broken link. Or can you see a thumbnail under my spider study? Maybe it's just what I see as an author? Would be strange anyway.
